HVAC system categories that you need to know

The HVAC systems that we use both in our homes and industrially come in various types. The specific one to choose is dependent on the specific application for which it is required. Unfortunately, we often rush to make decisions on which type or category of HVAC system to purchase. This leads to ending up with a system that is not suited to our specific needs. Resulting in a waste of resources and dissatisfaction with the operation of the purchased system. Single Stage HVAC systems
A single stage HVAC system can be simply described as an on and off heating or cooling system. There is only one possible temperature to which it can be set. This means that at every point in time for which a single stage HVAC is on, it is operates at its maximum energy output. This sort of system is useful for locations with extreme temperatures. Nordic countries for example that are prone to extreme cold will benefit from single stage cooling systems. Tropical countries in West Africa too with high exposure to heat from the sun will also find good use for single stage cooling systems. Another benefit of single stage HVAC systems is in non-human applications like cold rooms or providing cooling for instrumentation. Since these applications only require a fixed temperature, single stage HVAC systems will serve the purpose perfectly.
The drawback with this kind of system, however, is the fact that Energy consumption cannot easily be regulated except by turning off the system. Also, areas with the most extreme weather conditions often experience periods during which atmospheric conditions are temperate. A single stage HVAC system would not be easily regulated to suit the purposes of periods like this.
Multi-Stage HVAC systems
Multi-stage HVAC systems are just what the name implies- they have two or more heating or cooling levels. Most modern HVAC systems (including those connected to the Internet of Things) are multi-staged in design. This is not surprising. Multi-stage HVAC systems are more energy efficient since they do not have to operate at maximum capacity all the time, unlike single stage systems. Also, multistage HVAC systems can be modified to suit the comfort of the user. This is another reason why they’re more preferable than single stage systems.
Zoned HVAC Systems
Rather than heating the whole area within which they are installed, zoned HVAC systems are designed to be able to provide heating or cooling to specific areas of the building. This is achieved by the inclusion of valves which are able to either block or allow the flow of air to the desired areas. Zoned HVAC systems are also quite energy efficient. For example, they help to ensure that unoccupied areas within a building are not cooled or heated unnecessarily thereby reducing the overall energy expended.
